The NBA season is set to begin, which is weird given I just lost a bunch of US trash coin by betting on Brooklyn like three weeks ago. Anyhow, teams had their media day and the topic turned to the only thing on losers’ minds: COVID and U VAXXED BRA?!? (Unlike Winners who help each other in the Jungle bc WAGMI!)
Media day is where mostly older white men ask mostly younger black men strange questions about their bodies. It’s as non racist as an auction fantasy football draft where mostly white men bid money on mostly black men. #progress.
First up for the media hoard was Jonathan Issac, he of the Orlando Magic who stood for the National Anthem amid the George Floyd protests (see above). Yes, THIS was the guy the media tried to make an example of. Whoops.
I did a thread on this for those that do AND SHOULD follow me (Follow me on Twitter for more of these), but let’s enjoy this a bit more.
He nails the following:
Understands the other side. Acknowledges their arguments. Instant wind out of sails.
Paces and leads. Explains what we all know, then says their argument. Nothing to disagree with. Everyone nods.
He already HAD COVID.
Ends by HAMMERING home the point we are not supposed to discuss: the people demanding everyone get the vaccine are creepy and awful. Why is everyone obsessed with vaccine status? Do they have no lives? It’s so bizarre. This dude is a PROFESSIONAL athlete. His middle toe can run a 40 faster than you ever did. He needs YOUR health advice?
The people demanding the vaccine are the lowest of IQs. The reply guys who know what you’re REALLY thinking; the corporate journalists, whose existence is one latte followed by a good cry or 17. Vaccine demanders are probably single or in failed relationships. Anyone with HALF a brain knows you have to first get people to want something. Vaccine came out, there was demand. Perfect.
Now there’s only people DEMANDING you take it. Here’s a quick test I do not recommend but will help the NGMI’s understand:
Text your significant other a zillion times tomorrow. Then send zero the next day. Which day do you think they will text you on? if unsure, please test out the above and tweet results @bowtiedkong thanks!
Jonathan Issac used facts, great persuasion, and said the unspoken YUP. That is great public speaking.
Next up: Bradley Beal (starts around 9:30 mark)
Bradley Beal, MVP candidate in more ways than one. Like Jonathan Issac, he had COVID. Like Issac, he knows the value of natural immunity. Unlike Issac, he’s a top-10 player in the NBA.
Watch how smooth as his stroke he dismantles the narrative. What else stood out:
The underlying disdain for the reporters. Just standing up to the sheep and sending them back to their pen.
How he was able to answer questions without circling back or claiming a family the US murdered in a drone strike was some random terrorist offshoot cell no one had ever heard of.
He said the ‘not what you are supposed to say’ about everyone can still get COVID.
Bradley Beal is a keeper.
Finally, we get to Draymond Green. Never one to shy away from stuffing media bros into lockers, we received our first 21-22 season Draymond video gems (tech issues with embedding, click the LINK por favor).
I’ll listen to anyone who leads like this, much less someone that’s stuffed LeBron in a locker three times. What I really liked:
THATS LEADERSHIP. He stood up for his teammate.
The idea of woke SF people wanting to cheer their team but also being authoritarians about the vaccine.
The air quotes when discussing what the country was supposedly about. Air quotes work in almost any situation, from ‘yes I’m “vaxxed” to ‘no, I didn’t “have sex” with that “prostitute”. (No chance I got the quote usage right - is there a bowtied grammarian?!?)
Not only is free speech what this country is about, but freedom is living life. All three of these sweet dudes are taking chances by being honest and open. They are not playing it safe, they have spirit. Like Lewis and Clark going back and forth across the country (HOW?!?) or Andrew Jackson beating his assassin with a cane. It is the non necessary cart driving Walmart customers trying to run this country. Enough is enough.
Issac, Beal, and Draymond gave masterclasses in how to handle the hostile. They were Calm, had facts, and called it like it is. Honesty is the new bravery. Let’s follow their lead in continuing to make America…
Just kidding.
Be calm, cool, and let's stand up to the hostile together. We got this 🇺🇸
