How lack of charisma killed the once future King
The DeSantis campaign's fatal flaw, plus an announcement
It is easy to spot people who either have it or not.
As someone in the business of persuasion, you know when you meet a fellow expert persuader. When I feel a pull to do something from someone, I take a step back and ask WHY do I feel this way?
One of my favorite attorneys is a schmoozer to the umTEENTH degree. He would stroll up to the prosecutor’s podium, smile, radiate warmth. He’d tell you a story about each client. A compelling story. He’d look you in the eye and say, this person is flawed, but so is the system. Please do this for all of us. The ask would be in his favor, but reasonable.
Even though I knew I was being persuaded, I agreed to many deals when I probably could have gotten more. I’d have to push back when the facts were of that nature, and he’d be pissed. Trump like - you were either on his side, or not. Given my fondness for Trump, I was able to withstand this tactic more than others, but still. The guy taught me much.
