“Here is your bucket with a few bags…just in case”
I was sitting in a room with twenty strangers. Everyone was given a pillow, a sleeping mat, and a bucket with some bags.
Within an hour, I would be sipping ayahuasca from a small plastic cup given to me by a shaman
Within two hours, I would come face to face with God.
Was it two hours? Ayahuasca changes your perception of time and space, as if there is none.
Do you travel to other dimensions? Meet demons? What or who is Mother Ayahuasca?
My night began slow. The ceremony started with sage, chanting, and dancing. I was told many people throw up or shit themselves from Ayahuasca, so my stomach was preparing for the inevitable. The music seemed slow, time crawled.
Then, it was time.
I went up to get my cup. I nervously smiled as the Shaman gave me my glass, and her assistant gave me a…grape.
“Grape after”, she said.
I sipped from the cup. It tasted like liquid dirt. I must have eaten too much dirt as a child, because it tasted ok. The grape was better. I went back to my sleeping mat.
Then I waited. And Waited.
Nothing.
