Downtown Chicago turned into a horror show on Saturday night, with hundreds of teens coming downtown and breaking things and people.
This is the start of bad times. Here’s why:
1. Local prosecutors are outnumbered
Law school enrollment is down, and recent law grads are choosing more money in private practice over fighting communism as a prosecutor.
Ruh-Roh.
My office has been hiring for AT Least a year, but we’re still well short of people.
Chicago is located in Cook County. I know Cook County prosecutors.
They don’t have time or resources for these cases.
Cook, as well as other large cities, are FLOODED with serious crimes:
Murder, shootings, stolen cars.
Go watch the film again - What charge(s) are they supposed to hand out? Criminal damage to property? A bunch of other nothing misdemeanors that Kim Foxx already has no interest in charging?
Here’s another issue:
How do you ID the teens?
You have to physically capture them while this is going on otherwise you have little to no chance. Yes there are cameras everything, but who is going to review HOURS of footage to charge a few minor crimes?
As an outnumbered prosecutor, I’d have to think LONG and HARD about how to charge based on these incidents
You probably go after the instigators/see if police have a beat on some of the worst ones, otherwise how can I justify charging 100 cases when I am already barely above water level with my current ones?
2. Defund the police was a success
I work closely with beat cops and detectives. They work up cases, chase down perps, and are VERY conscious about blowing their pensions on meaningless street crimes.
Officers have been hunted by activists for years. How SHOULD you deter the teens from causing a riot downtown?
How does the new Mayor of Chicago plan to curb this behavior?
Why would an officer risk their life for that guy?
3. What’s the incentive to stop?
People work on incentives. Here is Mayor Elect Johnson’s statement:
WHY WOULD TEENS STOP BEHAVING POORLY?
What’s the incentive? Even if they get charged it’s probably in juvenile court, and everyone knows Kid court is a joke.
That’s why they were twerking on cars.
Look at his statement again - he says the kids never had a chance.
In Chicago? The city with Democratic leadership for ONE HUNDRED YEARS? There’s no shame in the blame others even within your own party game.
The above SHOULD be that picture of lizard people laughing, but the AI version is….way creepier.
4. Self defense is illegal in large blue cities
You think KIM FOXX will decline charges on someone shooting a BLACK TEEN during a RIOT?
OK Kong, where does that leave us?
Buy and train on a firearm…
Which is ok to use where you move to
register voters
pray
Defund the police worked - it’s up to you to move and react appropriately
NAMASTE,
KONG
The real key is moving. These cities are only going to devolve. The defund movement was so successful in such a short time, it upended 40 years of progress on crime.
